Abraham Lincoln High School, San Jose
Sponsoring Standard Pacific Community: Laurel Place

The current editor in chief for Lincoln High’s student newspaper, Rachel also serves as the co-president of her schools Interact Club and as an officer in the French Society; she’s been involved with all three clubs since her sophomore year. Rachel has compiled a 4.0 grade point average with a course calendar that has featured Advanced Journalism and Advanced Digital Photography, in addition to advanced placement classes in English and calculus. Away from school, since 2005, Rachel has volunteered her time to the Bill Wilson Centers Project Safe Place, a national partnership that provides a safety network for children by joining together government facilities, businesses, schools, and nonprofit agencies. Trained staff and volunteers respond to calls for help 24 hours a day, providing children who are troubled or in danger with a safe haven. She also works part time as a supervisor at a local amusement park. After graduation, Rachel looks to explore Journalism further at Santa Clara University, Stanford, USC or Pepperdine.
