Winners of the 2005 StanPac Scholarship Program

In its inaugrial year, the StandPac Scholarship Program was proud to grant scholarships to 25 students. Find out what made these students so deserving.

 
Micah Violet
Vintage High School, Napa
Micah achieved a 3.8 grade point average. She was a member of her school's volleyball team from 2000 to 2003. In addition to schoolwork, extracurricular activities, and a part-time job, Micah donated her time volunteering at a local nursing home. Sponsoring Standard Pacific Community: Vintage Ranch
 
Lisa Slater
Harbor High School, Santa Cruz

Lisa held a 3.8 grade point average and was co-chair of Harbor High School's Rainbow Society. In addition, she donated 10 hours a week to the International Order of Jobs Daughters while working 15 hours a week as an office assistant for a local medical group. Jake Flohr
Laguna Creek High School, Elk Grove
Jake held a 4.1 grade point average while serving as team captain of both the Cardinals' football and basketball teams. He was named the most valuable player and co-MVP of the football and basketball teams respectively. He was also involved with Laguna Creek's student government from 2004 to 2006, and served as its Commissioner of Rallies. Sponsoring Standard Pacific Community: Estancia
 
Felipe Sanchez
Rancho Cotate, Rohnert Park
Felipe held a 3.95 grade point average with a class schedule that included advanced placement courses in English, French, and Economics/Government. Along with his schoolwork, he participated in Rancho Cotate High School's Interact Club and California Scholarship Federation. Sponsoring Standard Pacific Community: Village Walk/Veranda
 
Alexandra Lund
Oak Ridge High School, El Dorado Hills
Alexandra held a 3.8 grade point average and served as a senior captain on her school's varsity tennis team. Throughout high school, she volunteered many hours to various charitable organizations and causes such as Shriner's Children's Hospital and Make a Difference Day. With the rest of her time she became involved with Oak Ridge High's Key Club and student government. Alexandra also tutored fellow students in Chemistry. Desyre Rodriguez
Oakmont High School, Roseville
Desyre held a 3.8 grade point average with a class schedule that included advanced placement courses in Calculus, Medical Science, and Chemistry. She was also a member of the school's Health Careers Academy and served as membership chairman for the Interact Club. With a career goal of becoming a doctor, she donated 25 hours a week to Sutter Hospital as a radiology intern in the Summer of 2005. Sponsoring Standard Pacific Community: Willow Creek
 
Romie Amposta
Rodriguez High School, Fairfield
Romie held a 4.0 grade point average and was involved with Rodriguez High School's student government from 2002 to 2006. In addition, Romie served as secretary and treasurer of the Academic Program International Club and treasurer of the Key Club. Romie was also involved with the California Scholarship Federation and National Honors Society from 2003 to 2006. He was a part of the Mustangs' junior varsity and varsity track and field teams during that time as well. Sponsoring Standard Pacific Community: Andalucia
 
Miguel Esquivel
Alisal High School, Salinas
Miguel held a 3.8 grade point average with a class schedule that included advanced placement courses in Government and English. Along with his course load, he was a member of the Trojans' cross country, track and field, and soccer teams from freshman to senior year. Christina Monroy
Greenfield High School, Greenfield
Christina held a 4.1 grade point average and was a member of the Bruins' soccer, cross country, and track teams from 2002 to 2006. Along with her athletics, she served as president of the Physics Club and vice president of the AP Club. Sponsoring Standard Pacific Community: Seville/Casa del Sol
 
Shilpan Shah
Rocklin High School, Rocklin
Shilpan held a 4.1 grade point average with a class schedule that included advanced placement courses in Physics and Economics. He was also enrolled in the school's CAD/CAM II program, focusing on industrial drafting. Sponsoring Standard Pacific Community: Whitney Ranch
 
Nathan Lallas
Freedom High School, Oakley
Nathan, a part of the Falcons' varsity football team from 2004 to 2006, held a 3.8 grade point average, played trumpet in the school's jazz band, and was a member of the Math, Engineering, and Science Academy (MESA). Nathan donated more than 200 hours of service with the Boy Scouts of America restoring waterfowl habitats in Napa and Sonoma marshlands from 1999 to 2006. Enrique Jimenez (1988-2006)
Manteca High School, Manteca

Standard Pacific was disheartened to learn of the tragic passing of this remarkable student on September 22, 2006. His spirit and dedication will inspire all students striving for educational excellence as well as our efforts to award their accomplishments.

 

Enrique held a 3.9 grade point average with a class schedule that included advanced placement courses in Calculus, English, and U.S. History. Along with this heavy academic load, Enrique was a member of the National Honors Society and California Scholarship Federation from 2003 to 2006, and part of his school's Foreign Language Club and cross-country teams from 2002 to 2006. Luis Macias
Merrill West High School, Tracy
Luis held a 4.2 grade point average and played for the Wolfpack's soccer team from 2002 to 2006. In addition to helping tutor fellow students, Luis was president of the school's M.E.Ch.A. Club and was involved with the California Scholarship Federation. He was also awarded a Greenhand Degree from the National Future Farmers of America Organization. Karen Warner
Oakdale High School, Oakdale

Karen served as president of Oakdale High School's Service Club and California Scholarship Federation while carrying a course load that included classes in Advanced Placement English and Advanced Placement Government. She also played clarinet in the Mustangs' school band from 2002 to 2006. Throughout high school, Karen volunteered many hours to community outreach causes including serving as a camp counselor for the Muscular Dystrophy Association. Diana Lam
Mount Diablo High School, Concord
Diana held a cumulative 4.1 grade point average with a class schedule that included Honors Physiology and Biotechnology. Throughout high school, Diana was a member of several of the Devils' athletic teams, including the basketball and track and field squads where she earned scholar athlete honors. She also served as team captain of the school's tennis team where she garnered most valuable player and honorable mention recognition. To accompany her scholastic and athletic efforts, Diana served as president of Mount Diablo's Key Club. From 2002 to 2006, Diana donated more than 800 hours to community outreach causes including her school's Early Academic Outreach program, Educational Talent Search, California Scholarship Federation, and the Contra Costa County Food Bank. Stewart "Sam" Winters
Lincoln High School, Lincoln
Sam held a 3.9 grade point average with a class schedule that included courses in Advanced Placement Calculus, Honors Anatomy, and Advanced Sports Medicine, where he served as one of Lincoln High's athletic trainers. Even with a busy course load, Sam still found time to work 20 hours a week at a local restaurant. Sponsoring Standard Pacific Community: Woodbury Glen
 
Saira Diaz Flores
Los Altos High School, Los Altos
Saira held a 3.9 grade point average while serving as president of both her school's Arts in Action and M.E.Ch.A. Clubs. She was recognized as an outstanding student in several subjects and was a member of the California Scholastic Federation. She also donated 15 hours a week to the Community School of Music and Art as a senior art aide. Sponsoring Standard Pacific Community: Sierra Greens
 
Miriam Briceño
Montgomery High School, Santa Rosa
Miriam served as Montgomery High School's treasurer and historian while achieving a 3.7 cumulative grade point average. In addition, she was also president of Montgomery's French Club and part of the traveling contingent for the Safe School Ambassador program. She was enrolled in honors math courses from 2002 to 2005 and participated in the Tomorrow's Leaders of Today program from 2004 to 2005. Sponsoring Standard Pacific Community: Avondale
 
Rachel Seele
Beyer High School, Modesto
Rachel held a 4.1 grade point average with a class schedule that included advanced placement courses in Environmental Science and Government. In addition to working 20 hours a week at a job, she was a member of her school's Advanced Speech and Chemistry Clubs. Rachel was active in the performing arts throughout high school, and was a part of her school's Madrigal Choir and dance production team. Jennifer Graser
Folsom High School, Folsom
Jennifer held a 4.2 grade point average while serving on her school's newspaper staff. She was also secretary of the Bulldog's Pink Ladies Club and financial officer of the Link Crew. Jennifer tutored fellow students from 2000 to 2006 and also volunteered at the California International Marathon from 2002 to 2006. Even with all of these activities, Jennifer still found time to donate to several community outreach causes including organizing a book drive for soldiers serving in Iraq. Mayra Cervantes
Gilroy High School, Gilroy

Mayra held a 4.1 grade point average with a class schedule that included courses in Advanced Placement Calculus, Environmental Science, and Economics. A member of the National Honors Society from 2002 to 2006, Mayra also completed Advanced Placement courses in Spanish, English, and American History. Even with such a heavy course load, Mayra found time to be a part of Gilroy High School's Latinas Program from 2002 to 2006 and even served as the club's president. In her spare time, Mayra donated 12 hours a week as a tutor/program manager at the Mexican American Community Services Agency. Sponsoring Standard Pacific Community: Carriage Court
 
Marienne Cuison
Mount Eden High School, Hayward
Marienne held a 3.8 grade point average and was involved with several of Mount Eden High School's organizations from 2002 to 2006. She served as president and treasurer of the Leadership Club and treasurer of the school band. Travis Scrimshaw
Dublin High School, Dublin
Travis held a 3.8 grade point average with a class schedule that included advanced placement courses in Chemistry, U.S. History, and Statistics. Danielle Lieske
Deer Valley High School, Antioch
Danielle held a 4.3 grade point average with a class schedule that included courses in Advanced Placement Calculus and ROP Veterinary Science. Jessica Maike
Vacaville High School, Vacaville
Jessica held a 4.0 grade point average and served as senior editor of Vacaville High's yearbook staff and president of the school's Students For A Better Campus organization. A nominee for the National Honor Roll Society and member of the California Scholarship Federation, Jessica volunteered her spare time tutoring high school and middle school students in math and computers.
